Welcome to the 2006 Bethlehem Garden Tour
Thank you for joining us on the tenth annual Bethlehem Garden Tour sponsored by the Bethlehem Garden Club.
We hope each of you, whether a seasoned gardener or just a beginner, will learn
of new plants, gardening techniques, landscaping ideas, and be able to
incorporate some of them into your own environment. Please feel free to ask the
garden owners and volunteer hostesses any questions you might have. They are
there to share with you their joy of gardening. Be sure to take notes and even
make sketches so that you will be able to remember all the beautiful things you
have seen.

The Bethlehem Garden Club continues its interest in beautifying our Town. In the
past few years we have been actively planting gardens to enhance the entrances
to Town. Our first garden at the intersection of Kenwood and Cherry Ave.,
recently won an award from the National Perennial Plant Society. Another garden
was planted on Rt. 9W near Stewart's and the Delmar By-pass. We also did a small
native plant garden at the intersection of Delaware Ave. and the "Yellow
Brick Rd." across from Hoffman's Car Wash. We have a "Cottage
Garden" at the triangle of Maple Ave. and Cottage Lane in Selkirk. Our
newest addition, still in progress, is a walk-though garden at Bethlehem Town
Hall, planted on May 23, 2006. In past coordination with Bethlehem First, we
have planted 50+ trees along Delaware and Kenwood Aves., and we have planted
hundreds of daffodils around town in public spaces encouraging both residents
and businesses to follow suit. The proceeds from the Garden Tour go towards
these projects and new projects of beautification that we are continually
developing.

We would like to say a special "Thank You" to all the garden owners
and our volunteer garden hosts for sharing their time, energy, expertise and
gardens for this project.
